Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts (no straight 3x12 schedules offered)
• Patient ratio: 1:6 (1:4 if cardiac drip)
• Weekend shifts required
• No call requirement
• Float assignments required
• Holiday shifts required (at least 2 out of 3 holidays)
• Unit includes general medical-surgical patients, diabetes, renal insufficiency, some overnight ortho, vascular insufficiency, wound care patients, and backup for stroke unit
• Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Special equipment used: Alaris pumps and Vital Sync monitors

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Various federal and state screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search)
• Verification of state nursing license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Annual competency exams with minimum passing scores
• Employment application with 7 years of work history and no gaps over 30 days

Work Environment

• Unit includes a mix of medical-surgical and telemetry patients with some specialty populations (stroke, vascular, wound care)
• Use of telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation is essential
• Float pool assignments expected
