Overview
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 16 weeks
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- Hours per week: 36
Unit Details
- Medical oncology progressive care unit with a mix of PCU and med-surg acuity
- Oncology telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU-level care
- Pediatric patients are extremely rare and pediatric experience is not required
- High-acuity PCU experience is required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Key Clinical Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation
- Rapid response team use
- Feeding tube care and management
- Port access
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
- Starting IVs
- Heparin protocols
- Cardiac drip management
- PCA
- Chest tubes
- External CPAP/BIPAP
- High-flow nasal cannula
- ABG interpretation
- Nasal cannula
- Tracheostomy management
Preferred Skills
- Dysrhythmia management
- IV insulin protocols

Work Expectations
- May be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both if accepting a rotating contract

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
