Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• 1 year of experience in the specialty
• LTC experience
• Experience with IVs (running pumps)
• Experience with tube feedings with a pump

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Every weekend typically, though every other weekend may be agreed to depending on contract and unit need
• Every holiday in the contract, though every other holiday may be agreed to depending on contract and unit need

Responsibilities

• Treatment nurse duties
• Oversees the floor
• Performs assessments
• Fields phone calls
• Charts
• Provides wound care, rash care, pressure ulcer care, and skin care
• Passes medications as needed

Unit Details

• All private rooms
• Typical patient population includes general geriatric patients with dementia, cardiac disease, Parkinson’s, respiratory issues, COPD, MS, arthritis, and diabetes
• IVs, G-tubes, suprapubic catheters, catheters, and ostomies are present
• No vents or trachs currently
• Day shift staffing includes 2 nurses and 1 Med Aide
• Nights are 1:20–22, with 1 nurse from 2200–0600
• Float scope is within the unit in different roles, including watching the common area and call lights

Additional Notes

• Epic is used for EMR
• No call or standby requirement
• Closed-toed shoes required
• No jewelry or excessive piercings; long hair must be pulled back; nails must be reasonable length
