Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 14 beds, up to 20 with double occupancy rooms
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 RN to 3-4 patients depending on acuity
- Fast-paced cardiac and cardiac surgery care including patients post-cardiac catheterization and open heart surgery (2-3 days post-op)
- Patient conditions include STEMI, NSTEMI, chronic ventilator support, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, new BiPAP/CPAP patients, thoracotomies, and renal disease
- Critical Care service line with hospitalists managing PCU patients
Job Duties
- Acute care nursing for cardiovascular and surgical patients
- Use of specialized equipment including Philips Cardiac Monitors, Telemetry, Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitors, invasive monitoring devices, Medtronic Pacemakers, Cerner EMR, Pyxis medication dispenser, Zoll R series defibrillators, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Mistral Air Warming units
- Administration of IV cardiac medications
- Care and management of peritoneal dialysis, chronic ventilators, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, arterial or venous sheath pulling/care
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 7 AM – 7 PM or 7 PM – 7 AM
- 3 shifts per week required; possibility to schedule 4 shifts per week upon discussion
- Two weekend shifts per pay period, nights included
- Floating to ICU preferred; float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry required (includes arterial lines and sheath pulls)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Strong EKG knowledge and skills
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Active and in good standing Arizona RN license
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing

- Radius rule: Candidates may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with certain large healthcare systems within 50 miles
- Dress code: Navy scrubs and business-appropriate hair color
