Job Description
A hospital in California is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a travel assignment. The position involves working in a 10-suite OR unit handling 25-45 cases per day, including general, vascular, thoracic, neuro, ENT, plastics, heavy ortho, sports medicine, and total joint cases. Transplant cases are not included.
Work Environment & Details
- Unit: Operating Room
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:1
- Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner Surginet
- Team includes OR Techs, Clinical Supervisor, OR Director, and OR Manager
- Weekend and holiday coverage is managed by call
- Call schedule: 1-2 weeknights per week; weekend call approximately once per month (from end of shift Friday to 6:30 am Monday)
- Scrubs provided by the hospital
- Telemetry monitoring: Phillips system
- Ventilators available
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- Shifts available: 8-hour (6:30 am - 3 pm), 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts; mid shifts start at 9 am or 10:45 am
- Orientation: 1 shift with preceptor
- Floating: Not applicable
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience
- Active California RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- COVID-19 vaccination required (with certification)
- Strong experience with total joints, general surgery, vascular, and spine cases
Additional Information
- Call required every other week
- 10-hour day shifts available
- Candidates should be comfortable with a variety of surgical cases as described above
