Respiratory Therapist - Days

Location: Craig, Colorado Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Week: 36

Role Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) administers safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by the physician, with emphasis on Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. Responsibilities include monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, and interpreting hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver all respiratory care procedures competently, per department policy and procedure manual.
• Maintain accurate, complete documentation and data entry of services and charges.
• Verify physician orders and prepare and receive patient reports.
• Initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients, and interpret flow volumes and pressure-volume curves.
• Perform arterial blood gas draws, airway management (including bag/mask ventilation), and suction and artificial airway care.
• Assist the physician with intubation.
• Translate medication into neonatal and pediatric doses, and assess adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonatal patients' special needs.
• Provide mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a qualified physician.
• Assist with orientation and training of new employees, respiratory and nursing students, and precepting new employees.
• Complete required continuous education, including department-specific requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Colorado
• Registered Respiratory Therapist with one (1) year of experience, obtained within the last year
