Job Opportunity: Retail Staff Pharmacist
Location
- Hebron, Nebraska

- Full Time (40 hours per week)
- Shift: Monday to Friday (8:30 AM - 5:30 PM), Saturday rotation (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM), no holidays

Job Summary
Provide pharmaceutical services including dispensing medications, advising on drug therapy, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and collaborating with medical and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities include medication preparation, inventory management, patient education, and mentoring healthcare trainees.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pharmacist license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience
- Pharmacist experience within the last year
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and safely
- Advise physicians on drug therapy, toxicity, side effects, and dosing
- Oversee non-pharmacist personnel involved in medication processes
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including Nebraska Department of Health standards
- Conduct medication use reviews and assess patient compliance and outcomes
- Educate patients on proper medication use and participate in patient care rounds
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory and ensure secure storage
- Respond to medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers and the public
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Develop and update drug use guidelines, therapeutic bulletins, and departmental policies
- Provide budget-related information concerning drug expenditures
- Participate in facility and community committees as requested
- Mentor pharmacy, medical, and nursing students through practical and didactic experiences
- Provide monthly consulting to contracted long-term care facilities
Working Conditions
- Indoor, smoke-free, climate-controlled environment
- Possible exposure to unpleasant odors, fumes, liquids, chemicals, biohazardous materials, and communicable diseases
- Required annual fit testing for filtered respirator due to exposure risks from hazardous drugs
- Frequent interaction with doctors, patients, families, and other healthcare staff

- On-call rooms are limited and available upon request
