Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) - Day

Location: Chico, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: Day shifts (8- or 10-hour shifts) starting at 6:30 AM, with alternating weekends
Hours per Week: 40

Job Description

• Provide direct patient care as a first assistant to the surgeon in the Operating Room and Labor and Delivery Suite.
• Perform an expanded perioperative nursing role with knowledge, skills, and judgment acquired through organized instruction and supervised practice.
• Practice under the supervision of the surgeon.
• Position requires credentialing through the medical staff office (minimum 6-8 week processing time).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of First Assist experience
• First Assist experience within the last year
• Perioperative experience

Additional Information

• Agency staff must be W-2 employees of their agency.
• Med/Surg and Critical Care RNs in this setting are required to float as needed.
