Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel
- Shift: Days, 7 AM - 7 PM
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Department: Patient Care Services
- Position Title: Clinical Nurse I, II, III, IV
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
- BLS Certification from AHA
- ACLS Certification from AHA
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty (med/surg patients in CDU/Transition Unit)
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population on assigned units. The RN ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial patient assessments; prioritize care based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
- Re-assess patients regularly to identify progress and intervene as needed
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care within nursing standards
- Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning
- Perform Point of Care testing procedures
- Float to Emergency Department to care for ED holds with admission orders
Staff & Team Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively to achieve intended outcomes
- Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities
- Participate in orientation of new staff and students
- Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff
- Promote a positive, professional, and supportive work environment
- Collaborate with team members to meet unit and organizational goals
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases
- Clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment
- Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations
- Prolonged standing and walking; physical effort required to move patients and equipment
- Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination necessary
- Visual and hearing acuity within normal or correctable limits
