Travel RN Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Unit

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical
• Number of Beds: 36
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCT), 1-3 sitters
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 PCT, 1-3 sitters
• Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1 (low acuity), surge up to 7:1 (rare)
• Equipment: Typical medical/surgical equipment
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Skills

• Ability to manage a 6:1 patient ratio
• Strong time management skills

Preferred Skills

• Teamwork
• Experience with Meditech EMR

Typical Procedures

• Full patient assessments
• Focused assessments every 8 hours
• IV antibiotic administration
• Bladder scans
• Discharge education
• Admission assessments
