Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical
• Number of Beds: 36
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 PCTs, 1-3 sitters
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 PCTs, 1-3 sitters
• Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1 (low acuity), surge up to 7:1 (rare)
• EMR System: Meditech
• Equipment: Typical for Med/Surg

Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical/Surgical nursing
• Must Have Skills:

  • Ability to manage a 6:1 patient ratio
  • Strong time management skills
• Preferred Skills:

  • Teamwork
  • Experience with Meditech EMR

Typical Procedures

• Full assessments and focused assessments every 8 hours
• IV antibiotic administration
• Bladder scans
• Discharge education
• Admission assessments
