Pediatric PACU RN

Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Employment Type: Long-term
Shift: AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: 8/3

Schedule

2 8-hour shifts and 2 10-hour shifts per week
PACU start times vary between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM Monday through Friday
Thursdays start at 8:30 AM

Orientation

1 day in PACU, including Stepdown

Patient Care Setting

Pediatric PACU with exposure to a wide range of cases, including short procedures and larger surgical cases
Phase 1 recovery: 1:1 patient care with vital sign checks every 15 minutes
Phase 2 recovery: 1:1 care or 1 RN to 4 patients in Stepdown with at least hourly monitoring

Clinical Skills and Responsibilities

Airway management
Modified Aldrete scoring
Assessment and vital signs
Medication administration
Discharge teaching
Arterial lines
Trachs with home vents
Precedex drips
Chest tubes
Drains
Foley catheters
Communication with anesthesiologists and surgeons regarding medication orders, signouts, discharge orders, instructions, wound issues, and radiology orders

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Pediatrics PACU - Post Anesthetic Care experience within the last year
1 year of Pediatrics PACU - Post Anesthetic Care experience
