Job Opportunity: LPN - Long Term Care (LTC) - Brooklyn, NY

Position Summary

  • Provide nursing care to assigned residents with complex needs under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Perform nursing skills related to hygiene, physical comfort, medical treatment, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety.
  • Direct care performed by Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Administer medications except blood products, first IV medication, IV push medications, and IV meds via central lines.
  • Administer IV therapy within scope if certified (venipuncture, starting IV fluids, monitoring, changing dressings, discontinuing fluids).
  • Prepare residents for diagnostic tests, procedures, and transport.
  • Participate in Person Centered Care planning and coordinate nursing care.
  • Assist with health teaching for residents and families.
  • Establish positive relationships with residents and families.
  • Participate in unit/team meetings and quality improvement teams.
  • Assist with nutritional needs and mealtime support.
  • Provide post-mortem care as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an LPN program.
  • Licensed and currently registered as a Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) or NY State CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in nursing skills within scope of practice.
  • Ability to foster positive team morale and good interpersonal relationships with residents, families, and coworkers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant nursing experience.

Pros

Yes, I had a very good experience and the staff was amazing. They didn't want me to leave lol.

Cons

The most problem I had was floating to PICU and the unit is not esthetically pleasing as it is an older hospital. But as for flexibility the manager was awesome and cost of living is expensive.
