Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist II provides assessment and treatment to support patients' physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual, and other performance aspects to improve daily living skills in home, community, workplace, school, and other settings. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing occupation-based treatment programs, educating patients and caregivers, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations to assess functional, cognitive, visual, and perceptual abilities.
• Analyze evaluation results to develop plans of care including interventions, goals, therapy duration, and discharge recommendations.
• Educate patients and caregivers on activities, equipment use, and home exercises.
• Conduct regular re-examinations and measure outcomes.
• Modify treatment programs based on patient needs.
• Oversee work of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
• Manage multiple patients simultaneously.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Participate in continuing education and clinical training.
• Assist in orienting new staff and act as a fieldwork educator for students and interns.
• Participate in educational events within the clinic and community.

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute healthcare system environment.
• Experience with a range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary.
• Competency in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP) for Acute Rehabilitation Unit.
• May require travel to patients’ homes for evaluations.

Required Education & Licensure

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
• High School Diploma (minimum education requirement).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills.
