Job Summary

Provide perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with strong skills in open heart procedures. Support other surgical cases including Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, and Robotics when cardiovascular cases are not scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient and family-centered care aimed at achieving individualized, holistic goals.
• Develop, implement, and adapt comprehensive, age- and culturally-appropriate nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Use the nursing process to safely and therapeutically care for patients, documenting plans of care and patient responses.
• Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust interventions as needed.
• Assess and address patient/family educational needs through individualized teaching plans using adult-learning theory.
• Recognize and overcome communication barriers by engaging interdisciplinary expertise.
• Advocate for patients and families, encouraging participation in decision-making and upholding rights.
• Document patient care needs and coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Delegate and assign care tasks within the scope of practice and competency of team members.
• Facilitate communication and coordination among healthcare team and ancillary staff to support patient progress and workflow.

Requirements

• Licensure: Valid California RN license required.
• Certifications: Current CPR certification required.
• Experience: Strong CVOR skills with open heart surgery experience.
• Ability to support additional surgical specialties such as Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Robotics.
• Completion of OR questionnaire required prior to assignment.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
