Float Pool RN - Intensive Care Unit

Overview

Role Summary

• Provides direct patient care on the unit, including nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, admission, transfer, and discharge activities, patient and family education, and care coordination.
• Float scope: floats between ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and PCU, so candidates must be comfortable moving across these units and caring for patients of varying acuity.
• Additional expectations: hourly patient rounding and bedside shift report, prioritizing care as patient needs change, ongoing communication with physicians and other departments, flexibility and time management across multiple units, and adherence to infection-control protocols and patient privacy requirements.
• Physical demands: frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling over 35 lbs, frequent walking, repetitive motion and bending, color discrimination for clinical cues, and regular exposure to blood, body fluids, sharps, and airborne infectious diseases.

Required Qualifications

• Valid, active Kentucky RN license
• Critical Care Float experience of at least 1 year, with Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
• Telemetry experience
