Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to the medical nursing practice area.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
• Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions through continuous evaluation.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, including private discussions when necessary.
• Provide constructive feedback to support professional development of peers.
• Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them.
• Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum of 3 years of Med Surg nursing experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree preferred.
• Additional certifications not required.
