Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - RRT – NICU
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Start Date: December 22
Job Details
- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for NICU
- Number of Openings: 3
- Shift Options: (3) 12-hour shifts or (4) 12-hour night shifts
- Must work 1 holiday during the contract
- Floating within scope required
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates accepted
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Pediatric experience required
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current Connecticut professional license (must match name on I-9)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER candidates
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for psych positions (if applicable)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Competency exam with 80% or higher within a year of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for Tele, Stepdown, ICU, ER)
- Core training parts I, II, and III (annual updates required)
- OSHA mandatory training (annual)
- HIPAA competency (annual)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by NP, PA, or MD
- Respiratory fit test annually (specific mask brands accepted)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
Documentation & Verification
- Clear copy of driver’s license or passport
- Background checks within 30 days of start, including 7-year search and alias checks
- Education verification (diploma acceptable as placeholder)
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps
- Work history verification for last 7 years
- Two references within past 2 years who directly supervised the candidate
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year of start
- Photo for badge (chest up, solid background)
- Signed facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, conflict of interest, contractor checklist, and pediatric medication calculation exam
Additional Notes
- Parking available (40 for 2 weeks, 80 for 4 weeks)
- Truncated credentialing process available
