Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Nights, Chest Pain Center)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Med Surg/Telemetry
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Ratios: 1:5-6

  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
  • Locals Accepted: No (50-mile radius rule from main campus)

  • Return to Work Restrictions: Per manager's discretion
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Required Competencies & Testing

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually.
    • Advanced Dysrhythmia required for ER, Peds ER, Psych ER, ICUs, Step Down, Tele, PCU
    • Basic Dysrhythmia required for Med Surg, Med Surg/Tele, Peds, Cath Lab, Special Procedures, PICU, Radiology & EP
    • Must score at least 80% to pass; 3 attempts allowed before cancellation
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for multiple units including Med Surg, Tele, ICUs, Cath Lab, Step Down, etc.
    • Candidates have 3 attempts to pass with 80% or higher
    • Remediation required after failed attempts; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all ICU, Med Surg, Tele, Step Down, Cath Lab, Radiology, and other specified units

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
    • Includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search
    • International search required if lived/worked outside US in past 7 years
    • Convictions within last year or active cases disqualify candidate
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days required (specific substances listed)
  • Physical exam: Required within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines each)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but accepted if available
