Job Summary: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Requirements

Licensure & Certification

  • NBRC (RRT) certification required
  • Indiana state license required
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • BCLS/BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • RRT
  • Additional certifications that may be required depending on unit: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification
  • State License verification must be done online within 30 days before start date

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty
  • At least 18 months recent ICU experience required
  • Education must be accredited through CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA
  • Prior travel experience: Not required (First Time Travelers Accepted)

Shift & Floating

  • Every Other Week (EOW) shift required
  • Must be willing to float between multiple facilities within the system

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific approved respirators required)
  • Tuberculosis screening (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended but not required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with minimum 100% score

Background & Documentation

  • Background check required within 90 days of start, including:
    • 7 years of lived/worked history
    • SSN trace, county criminal, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
    • Education verification (may be pending at start)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Transcript or diploma (official copy) required
  • Employment application current with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months and annually thereafter

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of mandatory RRT modules (22 modules) required prior to orientation for RRT candidates
  • Unit competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements must be completed prior to start
  • Self-study orientation and testing required for certain facilities within the system

Additional Notes

  • IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
  • Floating between multiple hospitals within the system is required
  • On-site fit testing is available only as a last resort and not at all campuses
  • Proof of valid driver’s license or passport required

This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with strong ICU experience who are flexible with floating and shifts, and who meet the comprehensive certification, health, and compliance requirements. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
