Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Job Description

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - CVOR
• Experience Required: 2 years (higher end of 1 to 2 years specified)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-timers Accepted: No
• Shift Requirements:

  • Weekend shifts required
  • On-call approximately 10 days per month
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
• Floating: Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
• Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
• Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)

Clinical Skills & Experience

• Circulate Heart, Lung, Thoracic, and Vascular Procedures
• Experience in open heart surgery and vascular surgery
• Cardiovascular procedures including:

  • Atrial Septic Defect (adult) repair
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
  • MAZE Procedure
  • Mitral valve replacement
  • TAVR (Transaortic Valve Replacement)
• Emergency management: Fire Safety
• Equipment/Instrumentation: Cell saver
• Professional knowledge and skills:

  • Administration of blood products
  • Infection control
  • Laser Safety
  • Radiation Safety
  • Specimen handling/labeling
  • Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure
  • Wound Management

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start (including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Professional license primary source verification (Missouri license verifiable on NURSYS)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required or declination forms for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B declination required (not vaccination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
• Completion of facility orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) prior to start
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
• References: Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
• Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be able to meet all compliance and credentialing requirements prior to start
• Floating and on-call duties require flexibility
• No pending licenses accepted
• No local candidates accepted (minimum 75 miles from facility)
