Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Job in Columbia, South Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: X-ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Location: Columbia, South Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM), Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- Weekend Requirement: None
- On Call Requirement: No
- Floating: Yes, floating required per facility policy to other units/campuses based on census and qualifications
- Charting System: Epic experience required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred; 1 year accepted only if full-time experience at a Level 1 trauma and Children’s Hospital with demonstrated OR and Fluoroscopic study experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (i.e., prior travel experience required)
- Level 1 Trauma & Children’s Hospital experience required for 1-year candidates
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Must have active South Carolina Radiologic Quality Standards Act (SCRQSA) license; pending licenses not accepted
- Required Certifications:
- ARRT (R) – Registered Radiologic Technologist
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA, RQI, or ARC only; must be instructor-led (no online-only cards accepted)
- Additional Skills/Certifications:
- Skilled in acute care imaging including ER, ICU, NICU, PICU, and OR
- Proficient in bedside/portable X-ray, trauma imaging, C-arm procedures, and fluoroscopic studies (e.g., barium swallow/esophagram)
- Ability to perform all aspects of X-ray independently and adapt to equipment-specific training as needed
Scheduling & Policies
- RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted with application; approval required by facility
- Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Locals Accepted: Yes, subject to radius rule
- Accept First-Time Travelers: No

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background Checks: 7-year background check within 12 months of start required, including SS trace, aliases, state/county searches, FACIS Level 3, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers: TB (True 2-step PPD or equivalent), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or exemption (seasonal)
- Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements
- Orientation & Testing:
- Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Pre-assignment testing (medication and EKG/arrhythmia tests) required within 72 hours of receiving login info; two attempts allowed
- Floating Policy: Must be signed by all clinical candidates; expires annually
- Compliance Checklists: Must be completed and signed by candidates and agencies
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Floating to other units is required as per facility policy
- Epic charting experience is mandatory
- All certifications must be current and cannot expire within 30 days of assignment start
- Candidates must be prepared for night shifts on weekends (Friday-Sunday)
- Facility does not accept pending licenses or background checks as placeholders
