Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kinston, North Carolina
Facility Type: Emergency Department (ED)
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (10:00 AM - 10:00 PM)
- Schedule: Every other week (EOW) / Every other holiday (EOH)
- Call: No call required
- Block Scheduling: Not available
- Local Travelers: Not allowed within a 50-mile radius
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Emergency Department
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st time travelers are okay)
- Float: Expected to float to similar or lower acuity units if needed
- Charge Nurse: Preferred but not required
- Patient Population: Neonates to geriatrics, ED with 34 beds, averaging about 100 visits per day
- Technology: EPIC and Pyxis systems used
- Clinical:
- ED provider support (MD/PA) available
- Triage area and telemetry available
- May perform some conscious sedation
Certifications Required
- NIH/Stroke Certifications (must be updated annually)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Orientation
- 24 hours
Additional Notes
- Candidates will not be interviewed; fast offers process
- Must include Return to Office (RTO) in submittal to be honored at time of offer
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification and diploma/transcript as applicable
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Health documents: Physical exam within 1 year, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, flu vaccination during flu season (with exemptions allowed)
- Fit mask testing required for some roles
- Skills checklist and work history verification as applicable
- Facility-specific training modules during orientation
- State license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of ED experience, comfortable working with a wide patient age range, and holding the required certifications. Prior travel experience is not mandatory, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses.
