Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide compassionate patient care, including reviewing and administering medications, treatments, and procedures safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to achieve expected patient outcomes.
- Perform tasks such as starting IVs, accessing ports, administering medications, moderate sedation, managing vasoactive drips and ventilators for high acuity ICU patients.
- Assist anesthesia with induction and intubation/extubation for adults and pediatrics.
- Continuously evaluate patient needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Adhere to radiation safety regulations.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of procedures and patient information.
- Assist multidisciplinary teams in preparing and turning over rooms efficiently.
- No weekend shifts required; however, weekend and weeknight on-call may be required.
Requirements
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
- Experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) or other procedural nursing preferred. ICU or Emergency Department (ED) experience will also be considered.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience
- Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; preference for IR or procedural nursing experience. ICU or ED experience acceptable. (Default interpretation: at least 2 years recommended based on specialty and setting.)

Background and Compliance Requirements

- Immunizations and titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, TB screening (annual), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season. Religious and medical exemptions considered with proper documentation.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray required within 90 days of start; annual renewal required.
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and annually thereafter.
Licensure and Certifications
- State professional nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on the position, including:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Critical Care RN (CCRN)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Competency exams may be required, including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and unit-specific skills checklists.
Documentation and Orientation
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB questionnaire must be completed and signed by a healthcare provider within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
- Full 7 years of work history required on employment application with verification of employment and explanation of any gaps over 30 days.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment is essential.
