Job Summary

• Float Requirement: Yes (1-week notice unless unexpected PTO or call-out)
• Weekend Requirement: None
• Patient Volume: Approximately 100 visits/day across 26 rooms

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years

• Prior Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required; 1st time travelers will not be accepted

• Work Setting Experience: Must have outpatient clinic experience

• Clinical Skills Required:

  • Triage (must be able to triage)
  • Foley catheter insertion (male and female)
  • Obtain/instruct clean catch urine samples & care for TURP patients
  • Phlebotomy
  • Medication administration (IM, SQ, oral, subcutaneous)
  • Respiratory support (face masks, nasal cannula, oxygen administration)
  • Communication of patient status changes to RN/MD
  • De-escalation protocols
  • Follow-up phone calls
  • Interpretation of laboratory results
  • Labeling of specimens
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Pain assessment and management
  • Patient health questionnaire/history/allergies
  • Pharmacy calls/patient refill requests
  • Telephone triage and vital sign monitoring

• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

• Preferred Skills:

  • Surgical oncology experience

Special Procedures / Equipment

• Nurse visits, cystoscopies with Botox injection
• Catheter insertion and removals
• Medication administration (injections)
• Sterile procedures
• Equipment used: bladder scanner, cystoscopy tower

Unit Systems & Orientation

• EPIC electronic health record system required
• SBAR communication method used
• Clinic orientation: 40 hours after hospital training

Dress Code & Uniform

• Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background checks within 90 days for all locations lived in the last 7 years
• Education verification for highest degree earned specific to profession
• State-specific searches and verifications required (North Carolina Healthcare Personnel Registry and Division of Medical Assistance)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
• Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season
• TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive
• Medication safety training and other facility-specific orientation modules required

Additional Notes

• No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
• Must bring own stethoscope
• Locals accepted with rate difference
• Must be able to float to 4 other clinic locations within 2 to 19 miles
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel allied/per diem acute care

This position is ideal for experienced LVNs/LPNs with outpatient clinic and urology experience who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable with a fast-paced outpatient setting requiring strong clinical and communication skills.
