Job Description

As a Dietician, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing Medical Nutrition Therapy, including:

• Consulting with physicians on nutrition support requests
• Planning and supervising preparation of special diets and menus
• Maintaining safe and sanitary conditions
• Training or assisting individuals, families, and staff in planning specialized and therapeutic nutrition care plans

Key Duties

• Assess and monitor nutritional status of each individual admitted
• Develop, plan, and approve diets and menus
• Consult with healthcare providers on individual diet therapy programs to determine nutritional needs and restrictions
• Complete annual nutritional assessments and diagnoses based on the nutritional care process (NCP)
• Perform monthly weight reviews, EHR chart reviews (labs, fluids, etc.), document as needed, and update diet orders, rosters, and dining guidelines
• Participate in development of seasonal menus tailored to individual needs
• Conduct meal observations
• Provide nutrition care instructions to individuals and families
• Assist in annual sanitation inspections of kitchens and food safety updates
• Attend necessary meetings and contribute relevant updates (life plan, residential habilitation, nutrition department meetings, etc.)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Required Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• State License (copy of professional license)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs only)
• Color Blind Testing (required)
• Competency Exam (required for all candidates)

Background & Screening Requirements

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled
• Searches include Social Security Trace, Federal, Nationwide, County, Sex Offender, and International searches
• Fingerprinting required (completed onsite except for certain facilities)
• Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center requires a detailed Statewide Central Registry (SCR) form with 28 years of residence history and household member information (time sensitive, 2-4 weeks for results)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (no annual renewal required)
• Fit mask test
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 12 months prior to start)
• Annual TB questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test)
• Vaccination documentation or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination, titers, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year of start (instant tests acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (2025-26)
• COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required
• Medicaid enrollment may be required for some facilities (not specific to this location)
