Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Nights

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights
  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Bed Count: 55 beds on unit
  • Patient Population: Cardiovascular experience required
  • Staffing Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: As needed, rotating
  • Float Requirement: Yes
  • On Call Requirement: None
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling handled case by case
  • Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours available
  • Scrub Color: Any (no logo)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check (7 years, updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (during flu season)
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
  • Photo for badge required
  • Employment application and resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Work history verification for 7 years

Additional Notes

  • Orientation and EPIC training can be attended pending fingerprint clearance but cannot work on unit until clearance is received
  • Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines require proper documentation and approval
  • References are not required to clear candidates but may be requested internally

This position offers an opportunity to work in a cardiovascular progressive care setting with flexible scheduling options and support for first-time travel nurses.
