Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty & Unit Details
- Specialty: Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown)
- Unit: 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery
- Patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions
- Care for up to five Med Surg patients per RN
- MS/Tele Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights
- Stepdown Ratios: 1:3-4 (days and nights)
- Drips required on all floors
- EPIC charting experience required
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including potential float to Bellevue campus
- Units may include 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of prior nursing experience required
- Must have 2 years experience in a large, urban hospital
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required
- Must be more than 100 miles from facility (no locals accepted)
- Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed by six weeks
Work Schedule & Other Details
- Shift options: 36 or 48 hours
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Days: Sat & Sun; Nights: Fri & Sat night)
- RTO (Request Time Off): Up to 2 weeks permitted, must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates
Certifications & Compliance
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP as applicable per unit (AHA required)
- State license verification and primary source verification required prior to start
- Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search
- Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Education verification required
- Various health documents required including:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (annual)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray documentation
- MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella vaccination or titers
- Flu vaccine documentation preferred (mandatory for new contracts starting 10/1)
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
