Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Step Down Unit)

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • Tower 2 is a 60-bed mixed acuity, cardiac and telemetry unit.
  • Care for patients 18 years and older recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries/interventions (e.g., open-heart surgery, ventricular assist devices, vascular and thoracic surgery).
  • Also cares for cardiac medical patients (post-interventional cardiology procedures, heart failure, acute coronary syndrome) requiring intermediate level of care.
  • May care for COVID-19 patients.
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (highest required).

Licenses & Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required (AHA or ARC accepted).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC accepted).
  • EPIC EMR experience required.

Work Schedule & Duties

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days.
  • Weekends: As needed.
  • Holidays: As needed.
  • Floating: May be asked to float to other departments including Medical-Surgical (MS) and Emergency Department (ED) hold.
  • Call requirements: None.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks & Clearances

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually.
  • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start, must be finalized prior to start.
  • PA FBI Fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must have results on file within 45 days or will be removed from assignment. Renewed every 5 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years of start; candidate may start with results pending but must have results on file within 45 days or will be removed from assignment.

Health & Immunization

  • Physical exam required within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted.
  • Vaccination or positive titer documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles) – 2 doses or positive titer.
    • Mumps – 2 doses or positive titer.
    • Rubella – 2 doses or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B – Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable.
    • Varicella – 2 doses or positive titer.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – within 10 years of start.
    • Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
    • COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination accepted.
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen required within 1 year of start (Aya requirement only).
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required within 1 year of start and renewed annually.

Professional Documentation

  • Two professional references required within 3 years of start.
  • Most recent resume or employment application required.
  • Annual skills checklist required.
  • Performance evaluations completed onsite by unit managers during assignment.

Facility Specific Documents

  • Passport-style photo for badge (professional appearance, solid background).
  • Signed acknowledgments for:
    • Code of Conduct
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Commitment to Health & Wellness
    • Non-Employee Affidavit
  • Completion of WellSpan Health LMS modules and new hire orientation required.
