Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse with strong cardiac telemetry skills for a night shift float pool position. Must be able to manage cardiac patients including titrating drips and caring for pre/post cardiac cath patients.

Requirements

Experience

Specialty: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Minimum 18 months true telemetry experience with cardiac patients (including titrating drips, pre/post cardiac cath patients, experience with sheaths)
Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers)

Licensure & Certifications

Missouri RN license or Compact license
Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA or RQI)
- BLS (AHA or RQI)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - 8-hour in-person course or AVADE equivalent, required starting 1/1/2026
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)
- TNCC preferred (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Pass/Fail Testing: Must pass an EKG exam on orientation day with a score of 80% or higher, including lethal rhythm interpretation
Dysrhythmia Advanced Course required with minimum 80% score and 100% on lethal arrhythmias section

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Tele placements require:
- 8 cardiac CEUs
- 8 stroke CEUs (including NIHSS)
CEUs must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually

Other Requirements

Must be willing to float to other units
Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
No block scheduling; time off requests after submission will not be approved
Scrubs color: Navy Blue

Shift Details

Night shift
3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Every other weekend required
Start date: ASAP

Background & Health Requirements

Criminal background check covering all states/counties lived or worked in past 7 years
EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required
Physical exam within 1 year of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
Fit mask test onsite (no facial hair allowed)
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approved forms)
COVID vaccination required or approved facility-specific waiver form accepted
Required immunizations or titers:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if low)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)

Facility-Specific Policies & Documents

Safe Medication Administration Agreement required
Dress code and artificial/natural nail policies enforced
HealthStream modules completed during orientation
Skills checklist required
Pass/Fail EKG testing acknowledgment must be signed

Additional Notes

Candidate must pass an EKG competency test on orientation day (minimum 80%, no missed lethal rhythms) or contract will be cancelled
No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is mandatory
Must be able to float and work nights including every other weekend
Must accept COVID patients
