Job Description

• Must be proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting
• CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
• Must have 3s or 4s skill level in vein harvesting and cardiac areas
• Will accept STFA (Surgical Technologist First Assistant) or RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)
• 5 years of experience strongly preferred (highest required years of experience)
• Previous travel experience strongly preferred (prior travel experience required)
• Float requirement: Provide general department first assistant coverage including ortho, vascular, gyn, thoracic, and general surgeries when cardiac cases are not applicable
• Shift options: 8 days on/40 hours per week or 10 days on/40 hours per week
• Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Call requirement: 12-18 days per month
• Weekend requirement: 2-3 weekends per month

Required Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 1 year prior to assignment, passing score ≥ 80%)
• Competency Exam in specialty (within 1 year prior to assignment, passing score ≥ 80%)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification (highest degree or diploma)
• Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for applicable positions
• Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements
• Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start (no exceptions)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required on-site for applicable roles
• Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 30 days of start
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Proof of Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or facility declination
• Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)

Documentation & History

• Complete application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
• One professional reference from supervisor/manager required
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

• February start dates desired
• Will accept RNFA at a different rate (not specified here)
• Candidates must be able to float to multiple surgical specialties as needed
