Job Opportunity: Angiography Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour days, Monday-Friday (typically 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
- On-Call: Rotation includes weekdays and weekends; every third weekend required (5-6 total weekends during contract)
- On-Call Requirement: Approximately 8 days per month including 1 weekend/month with a 30-minute response time
- Floating: Required to float to sister facility for 1 week (2 miles away)
- Average Daily Census: 7-10 patients
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Work Setting: Interventional Radiology, vascular radiology suite including peripheral angiography/venography with intervention, EVAR, TEVAR, carotid stenting, neuro-intervention (acute stroke, embolization)
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrubs: Blue surgical scrubs issued by hospital
- Parking: Free for travelers
- Facility Type: Level IV Trauma Center, major teaching hospital
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Angiography Tech)
- Years of Experience Required: 1 year
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Licensure:
- ARRT certification required
- West Virginia State License required (may submit with pending license but must be active prior to start)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, no pending or onsite completion allowed
- Vascular Intervention Certification preferred but not required
Skills & Responsibilities
- Equipment/Technology:
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
- Fluoroscopy (Siemens & Ultrasound preferred)
- Procedural Duties:
- Accurate monitoring and equipment setup
- Perform EKG lead placement
- Prep access site
- Recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Room circulator and scrub to maintain sterile field
- Use of vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Infection Control: Sterile technique strictly followed
- Inventory: Maintain equipment and stock supplies
Schedule & Work Conditions
- 40 hours guaranteed per week
- On-call rotation includes weekends
- Floating to sister facility for 1 week during contract
- Open to reasonable blocked schedule requests (to be discussed at interview)
- 100-mile radius rule for travel
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Flu Shot: Required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medically exempt with documentation
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Drug Screen: Must be within 30 days of start, including a full panel (Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, Propoxyphene)
- TB Testing: Negative TB test within 3 months of start (2-step skin test or preferred QGold/TSpot)
- Vaccinations:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) required after age 11, no declinations accepted without approved exemption
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - 2 vaccines or positive titers required; boosters may be needed if titers are negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B - documentation of vaccination or immunity required; series must be completed if no prior immunity
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titers required; boosters may be needed
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit testing required (3M N95 1860 Small or Regular and Aura 9205 only); accommodations available if candidate cannot pass fit test
- Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, sex offender search, national and international checks if applicable
- References: Minimum 1 reference from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the past year required
Orientation & Training
- Orientation occurs every other Monday
- Orientation duration: 2 days (Thursday and Friday)
- Includes Cerner Infusion Management training
- Required to complete in-service training modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours) including pass/fail testing for certain specialties
- Must review and sign facility policies including dress code, blood administration, time and attendance, medical release, and vaccination exemption forms if applicable
Additional Notes
- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this system
- Candidate must have a valid driver's license and social security card
- Skills checklist and minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references within past 2 years required
- Candidate must comply with all facility-specific documentation and competency exams as applicable
