Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (standard), with flexibility required for earlier or later procedures.
  • Call schedule: Typically two nights per week and every other weekend; includes after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Weekend on-call: From close of business Friday to department opening Monday morning; must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Floating between IR and Cardiac Cath Lab as needed.
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying at the facility or relief duties until the event passes.

Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
  • Competency in performing conscious sedation and monitoring/recording all IR procedures.
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
  • Must have an active Louisiana RN license or Compact License upon submission.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy required).
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification as applicable.
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for specific units)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
    • Varicella (positive titer or vaccine series)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30).
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and on-call responsibilities.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and updated annually.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit assignment.

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with IR competency who are flexible and able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
