Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Overview
- Contract duration: 13 to 26 weeks
- Floating required as needed, with potential to float every shift
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts (about every other weekend)
- Patient population: Cardiac patients including congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, post cardiac catheterization
- Unit monitors cardiac patients with cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.)
- Responsibilities include sheath pulls, TR Bands, Femstop
- Patient ratios: 1:6-7
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scheduling: Self-scheduled per unit needs
- Scrubs: Not provided (Navy color recommended)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring required
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal
- Experience with accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care management, PICC line management
- Cardiac drip titration experience (Diltiazem and Amiodarone)
- ACLS certification required
- Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers accepted)
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
- BLS (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering local, federal, national databases, sex offender search, and education verification
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with facility-specific declination if applicable)
- TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray and physician-signed TB questionnaire required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 10/31)
- State-specific registry checks for North Carolina within 90 days of start
Additional Requirements
- Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
- Must complete Medication Safety training and submit certificate of completion
- Must complete CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training if assigned to ER or Behavioral Health units (completed onsite within first 30 days)
- Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam within 72 hours of start, with a minimum passing score of 82% (three attempts allowed)
- Must complete all required facility-specific documents and agreements prior to start
- May be required to work on Storm Team/Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disasters
Patient Care Systems
- Medication dispensing and documentation via Pyxis and EPIC
- Communication using SBAR
Notes
- RTO (Request Time Off) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
- Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract to different units as needed
- Candidates must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation prior to start
- Candidates must complete the Corp ID process and log into the Novant I-Learn system within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays
This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with cardiac telemetry experience looking for a travel contract in North Carolina, with a minimum of 2 years of experience and ACLS certification. First-time travelers are welcome.
