Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, ED, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and will be assigned appropriately.
- Ohio State or Compact RN license required.
- Approximately 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Two supervisory references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years (preferred, interpreted as minimum)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- OH State or Compact RN license required.
- Required Certifications (AHA only):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – check unit/job description for requirement
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – check unit/job description for requirement
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Sex Offender Search (standalone, within 30 days)
- State-specific searches including Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and Abuse Registry (all within 30 days)
- Education verification through National Student Clearing House or in-house verification if needed
- Fingerprinting:
- OH BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract
- Drug Testing:
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant acceptable)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, no longer requires copy if Infection Control Policy signed)
- Fit Mask (N95 fit testing within 1 year, updated annually)
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines
- Annual TB Questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31) unless approved exemption
- Facility Specific Documents:
- Code of Conduct acknowledgment
- Confidentiality and IT Use Agreement
- Affiliating Health Record
- Infection Control Policy acknowledgment
- Fingerprinting proof of submission
- TB Form (if not completing new TB test)
- Flu Exemption Policy (if applicable)
- Background Attestation (if background check pending approval)
- Tdap Waiver Form (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Floating is a mandatory part of the role; flexibility to work in various pediatric units is essential.
- Legal name on all certifications and licenses must exactly match RN license (no nicknames or misspellings).
- All certifications must be AHA or AAP approved as specified.
- Documentation such as certifications, background checks, and health records must be current and compliant with facility standards.
- Two professional references required; peer references are not accepted.
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with pediatric experience who is flexible and willing to float across multiple pediatric units in a travel/contract role in Ohio.
