Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night shifts)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry

Required Experience

• Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Higher experience requirement applies if discrepancies found (18 months here)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation (passing scores required)

Work Requirements

• Must work at least every other holiday
• PBDS Assessment waived
• Orientation includes baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) with remediation and retake opportunities if needed

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required (must carry while on assignment)
• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing, results valid for 12 months and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete before extension
• Nursys verification required within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with annual updates if applicable
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers required
• Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination accepted with agency-approved exemption
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Annual flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval)
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Documentation & Onboarding

• 2 professional references required from employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application with 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in similar area
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Photo for badge not required for this role (only for OR Tech First Assistants and RNFAs)
• SafeMedicate prep materials provided for exam preparation
• Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed during orientation

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
