Travel/Contract LVN / LPN Job in New York (Auburn)

Job Details

• Specialty: LVN / LPN (Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse)
• Location: Auburn, New York
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (open to 4x12 with no overtime until after 52 hours)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (unless signing up for 4x12 shifts)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating: Required as per facility needs

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience, with recent experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) training
• Medication administration skills
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience using Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management

Required Licenses and Certifications

• License: New York State LVN / LPN License
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • 8 hours of stroke education (NIH Stroke Scale training may count toward this)

Additional Requirements

• Recent background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
• Professional references (2 within last 3 years)
• Skills checklist verification
• Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements

Orientation and Testing

• Must pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on the first day of orientation if working in telemetry units
• Stroke education must be updated annually
• Required to complete facility-specific documents including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality agreements, and automated dispensing cabinet security training

Call-Off Policy

• Maximum of 3 call-offs allowed during the 13-week assignment

This position is ideal for LVN/LPNs with at least 1 year of recent acute care experience who are comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a medical-surgical setting with telemetry responsibilities.
