Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Clarksdale, Mississippi
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Join a dynamic, family-centered Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns. This role involves caring for laboring, delivering, and postpartum mothers and their newborns in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.


Shift Details

  • 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Night shifts
  • Block shift accommodations available

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods
  • Manage continuous fetal monitoring
  • Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Deliver immediate newborn care and support breastfeeding
  • Conduct antepartum admissions, post-delivery recovery, and newborn nursery assessments
  • Collaborate with OB providers, anesthesia, lactation consultants, and support staff
  • Complete accurate documentation, discharge teaching, and patient follow-up education

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Certifications required:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification as requested
  • Certifications as required (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
  • State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, renewed annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation as applicable
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
  • Signed job description and computer access request form
