Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist
Location: Santa Cruz, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments according to physician-developed treatment plans.
- Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to deliver safe, precise, and timely procedures.
- Provide competent patient assessment, monitoring, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
- May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.
- Shift start times may vary between 5:45 AM and 8:30 PM; flexibility is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients.
- Experience working with Neonate patients.
- Experience working with Pediatric patients.
- Proficient with Elekta, Mosaiq, and AlignRT systems.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required.
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start.
- OFAC Sanctions List Search if FACIS III cannot be run.
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List Search if FACIS III cannot be run.
Certifications and Competencies
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications as applicable should be verified by position but are generally not required for Radiation Therapists.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam and other competency exams as applicable.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps, and employment verification required.
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical positions within 3 years.

- Radiation Oncology Services within a hospital system.
- Flexible shift start times between early morning and evening.
