Job Summary

Seeking a Medical Technologist with experience in laboratory settings. The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics. The role involves working with various laboratory disciplines including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Microbiology.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• 1st time travelers are accepted.

Certifications & Licenses

• ASCP and ASCP MT certification required.
• State license for Medical Technologist in Georgia (if applicable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is not required for Med Techs.
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, or others are not required unless specified by specialty.
• National certification verification required within 30 days prior to start.

Work Environment & Requirements

• Average daily census: approximately 290 patients.
• Electronic medical record system: Epic.
• Floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice.
• Weekend shifts: every other weekend.
• Call: none.
• Holiday work: expected to work major holidays if they fall during the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day).
• Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.

Orientation & Compliance

• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length.
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time.
• Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
• TB questionnaire required annually.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
• Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks.

Background & Verification

• Background check required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification required; diplomas or transcripts may be accepted.
• Work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
• Two clinical references required.

Additional Competencies

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
• Competency exams and other assessments may be required depending on specialty and facility policies.
