Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with ICU experience to provide care for medical and surgical ICU patients (excluding cardiac and occasional pediatrics). The role requires floating between Critical Care Unit (CPU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) units, with a patient load of up to 4 patients on MS/Tele.

Schedule

• Float required (CPU; float to PCU and MS/Tele)
• Every other weekend coverage
• Shift options: 8, 10, or 12 hours with guaranteed hours depending on shift length

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (higher value from description)
• 1st time travelers are acceptable

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only)
• BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
• PALS preferred (AHA only)

Required Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Care of ventilated patients

Systems Used

• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: EPIC

Patient Diagnoses Commonly Seen

• Medical ICU and surgical ICU patients (excluding cardiac and occasional pediatrics)
• Post code, post stroke, TPA administration
• Respiratory failure
• Dialysis patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Must float between units as assigned
• Pass/fail testing on EKG, medication, and critical care exams during orientation
• Adherence to facility dress code and scrub color assignments
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start
• Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption policies

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required
• Fingerprinting through state system is not required for RNs
• References: 2 professional references required
