Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience to work primarily in Labor & Delivery (L&D) with floating to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and some Pediatric Acute Care as needed. The position requires working 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week, with every other weekend coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience
- NICU experience
- Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years
- NICU or PICU experience
- PICU experience
- Pediatric Acute Care experience
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
Unit and Floating Information
- Primary assignment in Labor & Delivery (L&D).
- Floating to PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care units as needed.
- Home unit will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, county and statewide criminal checks, national sex offender registry, and FACIS Level III.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific approved respirators required).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required.
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Color blind exam required (Ishihara or equivalent).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required.
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN license holders will not be allowed to work at the facility after 11/30/24, except for Perioperative/OR RNs and certain allied health travelers. This does not affect Respiratory Therapists.
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport required for submission.
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment required.
- Employment application must be current and explain any gaps over 30 days.
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start and annually thereafter.
Shift Details
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12).
- Every other weekend coverage required.
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is not required.
