Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position in a maternity float pool requiring work in both Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units (true LDRP role).
• Must be willing and able to float between L&D and PP.
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15), totaling 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend and holiday required.
• Start dates available: June 10 or June 24 only. No other start dates considered.
• Up to 5 days or less of Return to Orientation (RTO).

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• At least 2 years of total travel nursing experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI (criminal background) clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal databases. Annual update required for direct hires.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable; diplomas not accepted).
• NURSYS verification of RN license within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with conditions)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine (most recent) or declination form.
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within a year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive TB requires chest X-ray and facility-specific TB questionnaire.
• Completion of a TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test results.
• References: Two professional references within three years of start.
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be aware of the strict pass/fail testing policy at orientation.
• Floating between L&D and PP requires flexibility and competence in both areas.
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not explicitly required.
• Local candidates are eligible for the same terms as travelers.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who are comfortable working night shifts, have strong maternity nursing skills, and can successfully complete required competency exams on orientation day.
