Job Description

• Assist in preparing for and during surgery by performing routine and delegated duties according to department and hospital standards to ensure quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) licensure (NBSTSA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of surgical technician experience, including experience within the last year

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
• Education verification required unless highest education is high school
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually, with negative TB test or chest x-ray as required
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually

Documentation and Verification

• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; employment verification required for up to 7 years
• Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical and allied health candidates
• Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
• Hard copy of professional license or documentation including license number if not available online

Additional Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
• Onsite EKG exam required after start for ICU and Med/Surg/Telemetry RNs (if applicable)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually (as applicable)

This position requires a highly experienced Certified Surgical Technologist comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties, night shifts, and on-call duties, with comprehensive background and health compliance standards.
