Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Location

  • Baltimore, Maryland

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 16 weeks

Schedule

  • Days, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (07:00 AM – 05:30 PM)
  • Every third weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • No pre-scheduled on-call shifts
  • Floating required within specialty to units performing bedside echo exams

Patient Population

  • Adult and Geriatric

Equipment & Documentation

  • Philips equipment preferred
  • Documentation systems: EPIC, ISCV

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist
  • Echo Technologist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Uniform

  • Navy blue scrubs (pink for trauma assignments)
  • Pediatric department: navy blue scrub pants with child-friendly tops in navy blue
  • Undershirt: white if short sleeve, navy (or pink if wearing pink scrubs) if long sleeve
  • Business casual allowed in certain departments (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates as required
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with pediatric populations)
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel plus Fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for some tech roles)
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80%+)
  • Age-specific competency exam (score 80%+)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score 80%+)
  • Color blind testing (one-time, no annual renewal)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must sign confidentiality and job description agreements prior to start
  • Passport-style photo with solid white/beige background required for badge
  • Portfolio Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates
  • Security ID application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Floating within specialty expected; mobile to bedside echo units
