CT Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Shift Details

  • Shift: 4 consecutive 10-hour days (typically 09:00-19:00), starting Monday or Tuesday
  • Shift time may vary by ±2 hours based on unit needs, with hours guaranteed and advance notice provided
  • On-call rotation required with staff
  • Must be available to work or take call for one holiday per 13-week contract (rotational)
  • No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience required
  • Local candidates not accepted due to radius restrictions

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Active ARRT certification (R) and ARRT (CT) certification
  • BLS certification (AHA only)
  • Virginia state license required; any active state license accepted initially with emergency authorization while VA license processes
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications as applicable by unit
  • Primary source verification of state license must be completed within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs within 30 days of start

Required Clinical Skills

  • Preparation and/or administration of contrast media
  • Radiation safety knowledge and compliance

Experience Requirements

  • Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers accepted)
  • Specialty experience: Radiology / Cardiology (CT Tech) – minimum 1 year or more as per highest stated requirement

Floating & Location Details

  • May be required to float to a nearby facility approximately half a mile away

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, required within 1 year of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Education verification of highest earned degree required
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Fit test for respirator masks within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or positive titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu vaccination documentation or mask and declination form during flu season

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address more than 100 miles from facility required within 48 hours of signing
  • Photo for badge: professional, plain background, no selfies or filters
  • Completion of new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start
  • Orientation Safety Manual review and acknowledgment required before start
  • References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Annual skills checklist update required
  • Radiation badge must be supplied by the facility (not provided by agency for new candidates)

Additional Notes

  • Call-off policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Virginia State Police Search completed onsite first day of orientation for applicable candidates
  • Must comply with facility-specific access and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in Virginia
  • Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Active ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications
  • BLS certification (AHA only)
  • Experience with Siemens imaging equipment
  • Experience using Epic electronic health record system

This position is ideal for experienced CT Technologists with prior travel contract experience, who hold the necessary certifications and licenses, and are comfortable with a 4x10 day shift schedule including on-call and holiday rotation.
