Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics (RRT-NICU)

Location

  • Charleston, South Carolina

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within scope may be required depending on experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • NBRC certification for Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric, neonate, and infant patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Clinical Requirements & Competencies

  • Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required prior to start

    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if prior positive
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Background and Verification

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Employment verification of last 3 clinical employers
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
  • Social Security card and driver’s license copies required
  • E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to orientation; must be done on a computer, not a phone
  • Upload vaccination records (COVID and flu) into facility system prior to start
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application and approved based on unit needs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; guaranteed hours subject to this allowance

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local hires considered case-by-case
  • Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation
  • Parking available with a one-time fee for nights and weekends
