Job Opportunity: PTA Home Health

Location

• Pulaski, Virginia
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from home clinic, covering Floyd, Montgomery, Giles, and Radford counties
• Average travel about 150 miles per week

Employment Type

• Travel/Contract
• Typical contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
• Average patients per day: 5-6
• Productivity expectation: Approximately 35 patients per week, equating to about 32 points weekly (points assigned based on visit type and activities)

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy assistant (PTA) services in a home health setting
• Conduct home visits and periodic office meetings
• Types of cases: Start of Care and Follow Ups
• Reliable transportation and current driver's license required
• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate (patient-to-patient travel compensated; commute to/from first and last patient is not billable)
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
• Experience in a Home Health setting
• BLS certification required

On-Call and Weekend Requirements

• Varies by location and position; discuss during interview

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

• Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) preferred

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Comprehensive background checks including 7-year history, county/state/nationwide searches, sex offender registry, and drug screening
• State-specific background and fingerprinting requirements apply based on assignment location
• Education verification required
• Two professional references required
• Work history verification for at least two most recent employers or last 7 years
• Various compliance documents and policy acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to start and annually if working more than one year consecutively
• Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunization or titer proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella required or declination documentation
• COVID-19 vaccination series or declination required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation required

Additional Notes

• No guaranteed hours; if patient census is low, contractor may be floated to a nearby clinic to pick up hours
• Some positions may have alternate schedules such as 4x10 shifts (Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8
• Candidates must complete various facility-specific documents and quizzes prior to start
• Must comply with all state-specific legal and regulatory requirements for home health practice

This position is ideal for experienced PTAs with recent adult home health experience who are comfortable with travel and working independently in patients' homes.
