Operating Room

Role Overview

• Travel/Contract RN assignment in Abingdon, Virginia.
• Day shift: 7:00 to 15:30, 5x8 hours.
• Rotational weekend call is required; weekday call may also be needed on a rotational basis.
• General orientation begins on Sundays, with 16 hours of nonbillable orientation.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia.
• OR - Operating Room experience within the last year.
• 1 year of Operating Room experience.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Traveler’s permanent residence must be 100 miles or more from the hospital’s service area.
• RN license verification is required.
• NURSYS verification is required.
• Color blind testing is required.
• Competency exam is required.
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam is required as applicable by profession.
• Skills Checklist 1 is required.
• Background check is required within 30 days of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM is required within 30 days of start.
• HHS/OIG is required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification is required.
• Standard 9 Panel Drug Screen is required within 14 days of start.
• Physical exam is required within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB or Chest X-Ray is required.
• MMR titers are required for measles, mumps, and rubella.
• Varicella titer is required.
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination is required.
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption is required during flu season.
• References: 2 are accepted, 3 are preferred.

Preferred

• 3 references are preferred.

Additional Notes

• The hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty if census decreases.
• Additional shifts above the work commitment may be flexed as needed for census decrease or reduced resource need without penalty.
