Overview

Travel/Contract role in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
13-week assignment.
Night shift: 4x12 hours, 18:45–7:15.
48 hours per week.
1:3–4 target ratio.
Accepts 1st time travelers.
Locals are accepted.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina.
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience).
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
NIHSS.
Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Experience with management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams.
Experience with IV insulin protocols.
Experience with blood product administration.
Experience with central line care and management.
Experience with PICC line management.
Experience with heparin protocols.
Experience with CVA care.
Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, and isolation precautions.
Experience with IV start and conscious sedation.
Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.

Unit Details

ICU stepdown unit.
Runs more like an ICU.
20 beds.
Floating required as needed to a sister ICCU unit.
Every other weekend required.
No block scheduling.
Only one pressor drip per patient on the unit; additional pressors require transfer to ICU.
Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup.
No vents on the unit.

Patient Population

Post rapid response team patients.
Respiratory distress.
Unstable hemodynamics.
Withdrawal.
GI bleeds.
Post-op GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, and ortho surgeries.
Pre/post OB with complications (Pitocin).
Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Additional Notes

RTO after booking is not allowed.
Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR.
Hospital orientation is during week one, and the traveler must be available for classes each day.
Scrubs: navy, white, or a combination of the two.
