Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Telemetry experience

Relevant Clinical Experience

• PCU / DOU / IMC / Stepdown
• Telemetry
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Blood product administration
• Port access and central/peripheral line care
• Phlebotomy and PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management
• PCA
• CVA care
• Pre/post neurosurgery
• Spinal cord injury / TBI
• Ortho trauma
• Surgical drains
• Ventilated patient care
• Chest tubes
• External CPAP/BIPAP
• High-flow nasal cannula
• ABG interpretation
• Tracheostomy management

Unit Details

• Ratio: 1:3
• Daily census: 12
• Beds: 12
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Float requirement: Within service line; rare float to a nearby site
• Scrubs: Any color
• RTO: One request must be included on initial submittal

Additional Notes

• TNCC/TCAR can be used to avoid onsite trauma training
• Preferred certifications: CPI or MAB
